Last year my brother entered me in an NFT competition: participants had to create their own interpretation to Ziggy Marley’s ‘Beach In Hawaii’ song with the chances of co-designing a merch piece featured on Ziggy’s online merch store etc, of course I just couldn’t let the opportunity pass me, my parents are jamaican, I lived there for over 4months I had to participate. I took on the challenge and set out to win and over the space of 6 hours and 15 layers later I completed two versions of this beautiful interpretation. It took a good few months to hear back from Ziggy’s team that doubt was making its bed in my head but that morning felt different, after waking up I checked my emails (as I did everyday) skimmed through and there it was, “Ziggy Marley Artwork Winner-congrats”, so I was over the moon of course and this great news and huge opportunity set the tone for 2023.
